Background:
Built in 1964, the school comprises three classrooms built around a central hall, a playground the size of a tennis court and a large school field. Facilities include a networked computer system with 12 computers, a ratio of three pupils for each computer. There is a small infant class with an 'experienced teacher with SEN and IT expertise' and literacy coordinator, and a 'very popular' nursery offering five mornings a week free of charge, with an 'experienced, highly-regarded nursery teacher'. The school has a 'good recent tradition' of music, singing and movement taught by a 'talented part-time teacher'. Tuition is offered in guitar, recorder and brass. There is also a tradition of residential visits in the junior class for all seven to 11 year olds. Sport with and against other schools is encouraged and there is strong community support with links to churches, old peoples homes and places of interest.
