Background:
Fulford School opened in 1963 and has been comprehensive since 1970. Fulford is situated in a pleasant residential area just outside the city boundary and draws its pupils mainly from the villages to the south and east of the city. In recent years, because of the school's success there has been a steady increase in the pupils from outside the catchment area and the school has been consistently oversubscribed. The accommodation, which includes an outdoor swimming pool, has been considerably adapted and development continues. There are extensive computer facilities, which include six fully equipped computer areas, with internet access as well as considerable equipment situated in departmental areas. The school enjoys an excellent reputation for academic success at all levels of ability and for high standards of behaviour. The schools aspiration for students and their continued examination success remain the core function. Fulford School, however, is more then just exam results and the school aims to develop further the whole students. The school is very inclusive and pastoral care is strength of the school.
