The Joseph Rowntree School founded in 1942 with attractive ground and excellent sports facilities. The school has close links with the Joseph Rowntree Foundation who provides an outdoor education centre. The school is also a technology college and there is a particular emphasis on mathematics, science and Design Technology. The school is situated in the attractive, historic northern outskirts of York, between the colleges of Haxby and New Earswick. The school'sets high standards for work and behaviour. Students are viewed as individuals. The school promotes high academic achievement in a caring environment and it behaves strongly in partnership with parents and the community.
