Background:
Baldersby St James CE Primary School was founded in 1857 to serve the Parish of St James. The school resides in a Victorian listed building. The building is situated opposite St James Church, both of which were designed by Butterfield and founded by Lord Downes. Today the school caters for children between the ages of 4 to 11. There are extensive grounds and in summer 2003 an adventure playground was built in the gardens. The school'sits at the heart of the community. It has a warm and welcoming ethos. The staff is approachable and always available to discuss problems or queries.
