Background:

All Saints founded in 1985 following the amalgamation of three Catholic schools, one of which was the oldest girls' school in the country. It is accommodated on two sites about 300 yards apart in attractive buildings in the middle of the city, with separate playing fields about a mile away. The school is over-subscribed, with 1.3 applications per place. It offers the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, French, German and Spanish are taught to A-level and Italian is taught to GCSE, while no pupil has failed A-level theology since the school opened. Its under-16 soccer team is in the top 32 in the country and its under-14 netball team in the top nine. It has a very wide social intake with pupils travelling up to 25 miles to and from school from Ampleforth, Maltby, Thirsk, Tadcaster and Pocklington. The school aims to ensure that pupils moral, spiritual and cultural needs are very well cared for and that relationships are excellent throughout the school.
