Background:
The present school was opened in 1973, and amalgamated the schools of East Harlsey and Ingleby Arncliffe. The school comprises three classrooms as well as shared space which is used for the library and for art. Within the grounds there is a large playing field, wooded area with hedgerows, and a small vegetable garden growing organic produce. The schools ethos is founded in Christian values and the chairman of the governors is also the parish priest. Extra-curricular activities include football, netball and a French club and the children are active in the school's sponsorship of a Third World child, and raising money for the other nominated charities. Many chiildren participate in music tuition and there is a thriving PTA which organises both fundraising and social events. 'We encourage all children to achieve their potential, to develop their confidence, self-respect, respect for each other and to take responsibility for their lives in the wider community'.
