Background:
Embsay is a Church of England voluntary controlled school with religious education playing a vital part in the life of the school. Apart from the music in lesson times and the recorder clubs there are opportunities for the children to learn a musical instrument and to have singing lessons. A number of children learn the violin, cello, guitar, keyboard, brass and singing with teachers from the county music support service. The school provides a range of extra-curricular activities during lunchtime and after-school. The school provides a wide range of extra-curricular activities including: netball, art club, recorder, cross-stitch club, football, singing, computer club and dance club. There are also a number of parents and friends who offer additional activities after-school such as cricket and rugby. The school aims to work together to help every child to achieve his/her true potential in a happy, caring and safe Christian environment.
