Background:
Escrick Church of England School is a voluntary controlled Primary School catering for children between the ages of 4 and 11. It is located in the picturesque village of Escrick, six miles to the south of York on the A19 trunk road to Selby. The school is housed in two buildings. The older of the two buildings dates from 1856 and the newer building was opened in 1974. The school is a delightful mixture of woodland, grassland and garden. The extension to the lower school has provided a new kitchen, staff room, a disabled toilet and extended the main school hall. The extension has also freed up what was the old kitchen in the upper school, to be converted into a much needed computer suite, which will benefit all the children in the school.
