Background:
St Mary's is located in a market town close to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The present school was built in the 1960s, but the governors are now seeking extra accommodation as the popular school is growing rapidly. In 1999 St Mary's and Moorlands Independent School linked up in a project called Building Bridges to enable Key Stage 2 pupils to collaborate in differing areas of the curriculum. There are 'successful' football and netball teams which compete in local schools tournaments. The school'supports a young boy's education in Pakistan and regularly supports a local children's hospice and CAFOD in the Third World.
