Background:
Yarm Junior School moved to its present site in the 1960s and was followed by Yarm infant school in the 1980s. The two schools amalgamated to form Yarm Primary in 1988. It is situated in a residential area less than a mile from the centre of Yarm. The infant accommodation is open-plan, while the juniors are housed in a more traditional building, and both are linked by a covered passage. Facilities include two halls, four playgrounds and playing fields. The school has a choir, an orchestra and a wind band. Together with partnership schools, Yarm Primary has developed initiatives such as able and talented workshops, arts workshops, university lectures, university partnerships, NQT training, using data to enhance performance, and Key Stage 2 to 3 transition.
