Background:
Meadowside School is a well-established primary school for children aged between five and 11 years of age, built on the north side of Knaresborough. The school, which was opened in 1976, has eight classrooms, seven radiating from a central shared area. Each classroom has its own separate unit of accommodation: classroom, quiet area, wet area library and resources. Outside the school it has two playgrounds with extensive grassed areas and flowerbeds. All children have access to computers from the reception class upwards. It has a small suite of computers for skill teaching with a dedicated ICT assistant. The children are all involved in weekly games and PE sessions, length and times vary according to age. The school aims to encourage an interest in learning to stimulate the imagination and develop the creative talents of its children.
