Background:
The former East Riding Education Authority rebuilt Hemingbrough Community School in 1963. In 1974 Hemingbrough and the villages to its west became part of North Yorkshire and since April that year the school has been administered by North Yorkshire County Council. In 1987 the building was enlarged with three further classrooms, a hall extension and staff room. In 2001 a learning support unit was built and internal alterations were made to form a school library. In 2003 the temporary classrooms were removed and a new three-classroom unit was built in their place. A regular newsletter is published. The school has its own school council and has been involved for the past three years with a primary school in Kenya. The children from Hemingbrough have sponsored the building of a brand new toilet block for this school.
