Background:
Opened in September 1982; a modern building among council and private housing; 'pleasant location' for children with oak tree in grounds, the inspiration for the school badge. An independent community association, involving many parents, adjoins school building. Housed in single-storey building and a double-unit mobile classroom; surrounded by gardens, playground and large field; nursery is separate building. Large library; resourcing in each classroom area for technology, maths and languages. Central resources areas for science and art materials. Each classroom has at least two computers; centrally-located computer suite used by al children. Strong links between school and community association results in joint fundraising. Extra-curricular success in football; other opportunities in choir, recorders, peripatetic music service and touch rugby. Strong belief in developing links with the community. Children have collected show boxes for a Romanian appeal and Rotarians have supported fundraising events. Not over-subscribed.
