Background:

Sheriff Hutton Primary School is a community primary school, catering for children between the ages of four and 11. The school opened in 1965 and has a accommodating of 70 pupils. The school currently has 111 pupils on roll arranged into five classes. The school has two classrooms, a hall, an ICT suite and a library/music room situated in its main body. It also has a new building, housing one large and small classroom and one 'mobile' classroom sited in the grounds of the school. The hall is used for many school activities including Physical Education, assemblies and it is also used as a dining room. The school has a small playground with a netball court and a sports wall. To the side of this is an area with wooden climbing equipment on all weather safety matting. A playing field is adjacent to the school, which accommodates a football pitch. This year we have plans to further develop the school grounds to provide a quiet play area adjacent to the playground and develop an 'outdoor classroom' for each class.
