Background:
St Joseph's RC Primary opened in a single storey building with 'large' classrooms in 1971. Pupils have access to extra-curricular drama, art, gymnastics, rugby, chess, recorder, gardening and a film club. In recognition of these clubs, the school has won a National Merit award. Each year, the school holds two major fundraising events for charity, and these strengthen the 'already strong' links with Cafod, Help the Aged, NSPCC, Lepra and Catholic Care. The school also supports local counselling organisations. The St Joseph's School Association helps raise funds and provides a social link between home and school. The fruits of their past work have included the development of a wildlife area in the grounds and purchasing computers, curtains for the hall and a library.
