Background:
Warter Church of England Primary School founded in the mid 19th century and housed in its present premises since 1976. The school has benefited from a considerable building programme which recently added three classrooms, a library and a staffroom. An Information and Communication Technology (ICT) suites with 13 workstations which was opened in 1998 and an after-school study centre is due to open soon. Warter Primary is set in more than two acres of land and its outdoor facilities include a fitness trail, pond and millennium garden designed by pupils' for both school and community use. There are strong links with the local community and the school regularly supports a variety of charitable projects. It also offers football, netball, athletics, rounders and cricket. All children have ten swimming lessons a year. A Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) works closely with an SEN teacher from the local education authority and a curriculum assistant who works with SEN pupils' on a one to one basis.
