Background:

Opened in 1958, serving the parish of St Andrews, the school covers Teesville, Eston and Normandby. The buildings are within two and a half acres of secure playing fields. The school operates a house system which promotes good work and behaviour, there are four houses and awards are given out in assemblies in front of the school. The catchment area is wide, with most pupils travelling some distance by coach or car to school. As a result there are not a great many extra-curricular activities, but the school does operate both football and netball teams for the older children. Furthermore there is a 'disco' each half-term. During lessons however the school takes advantage of its generous fields, and proximity to local swimming baths, to provide a broad range of sporting opportunity. There are also special coaching sessions with the Middlesborough Mohawks basketball team. Outside of the school the 'Friends of St Andrew's' meet regularly to arrange fundraising and social events, with the school regualrly contributing to CAFOD and CAUSE. 'Our school aims to co-operate with parents in helping children to realise their full potential as individuals within the spiritual and moral guidance of the Catholic Church'.
