Background:

St Nicholas C of E Primary School was built in 1965. The school consists of three classrooms, its wonderful new information and communication technology suite (with 10 laptops, interactive whiteboard and projector) hall, a library, toilets and cloakroom areas. The school grounds provide an attractive area with a football pitch, play equipment, a pond and a playground plus a new early years play area. The school aims to provide an interesting, exciting and rich environment in which the children are stimulated to learn. The school has a variety of extra-curricular activities which includes recorder, chess, sewing and knitting, rounders, country dancing. The core subjects are English, mathematics and science. Other foundation subjects are history, geography, design technology, information technology, music, art and physical education and physical social and health education. The school has achieved the DfES achievement award in 2002. The school aims to provide a safe, happy and secure environment where children feel at ease and positively valued for themselves as individuals.
