Background:
Wiberfoss CofE Primary is situated in a rural location and is housed in two buildings. The original Victorian building is used by the nursery and Class 1, while the newer building holds the remaining classes and also offers a large hall which is used for assemblies, PE and school lunches. There is a large playing field and 'attractive, extensive' grounds which have been developed to 'enhance the play and learning environment'. A new classroom extension is being contructed. The school's curriculum aims are summerised in the mission statement: 'Learning for life and aiming for exellence'. It aims to 'teach children key skills which will equip them for their lives in school and the future'. The school has 'very good' links with the church and the wider community. There is an annual French week and residential visit which includes a day in France. Lunch time and after school clubs offer music, ICT, French and sport. Parents help to run the clubs and are also welcomed into the classrooms. Two pupils from the school were recently elected as members of the first Children's Parliament on the environment.
